About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Assistant Manager Finance with experience in the technology/software industry. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in project accounting, ERP systems (preferably Odoo), financial reporting, payroll management, budgeting, and financial controls. The role requires managing project profitability, supporting strategic financial decision-making, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies in a fast-paced tech environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Accounting & Cost Management

• Manage project-wise budgeting, costing, and revenue tracking for software development and technology projects.
• Monitor project expenses against approved budgets and ensure accurate cost allocation.
• Analyze project profitability, margins, and utilization, providing insights to management.
• Coordinate with project managers and department heads to monitor financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.

2. Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements using Excel and ERP systems (Odoo).
• Perform variance analysis, financial forecasting, and management reporting.
• Develop dashboards and financial reports to support business decisions.
• Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing activities.

3. ERP (Odoo) Financial Management

• Manage financial modules within Odoo, including:
  • Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • General Ledger (GL)
  • Bank & Account Reconciliations
  • Fixed Assets
  • Project Costing
• Ensure data accuracy and optimize ERP workflows to improve financial efficiency.
• Support ERP enhancements, process automation, and system improvements.

4. Payroll & Compliance

• Prepare and review monthly payroll, ensuring accurate salary calculations, statutory deductions, tax compliance, and ERP postings.
• Coordinate with HR regarding payroll changes, employee benefits, and final settlements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements.

5. Budgeting & Financial Planning

• Assist in annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning exercises.
• Monitor departmental budgets and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
• Support cash flow planning and working capital management.

6. Financial Controls & Audit

• Ensure adherence to financial SOPs, internal controls, and accounting policies.
• Maintain complete financial documentation for internal and external audits.
• Support audit activities and ensure timely resolution of audit observations.
• Recommend process improvements to strengthen financial governance.

7. Business Partnering

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Operations, HR, and Sales teams on financial planning and project performance.
• Provide financial insights for pricing, resource allocation, and investment decisions.
• Support management with ad hoc financial analysis and strategic initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
• ACCA, CA (Finalist), CMA, or MBA Finance will be preferred.
• 4–7 years of finance experience, with at least 2–3 years in a technology, software, SaaS, IT services, or digital products company.
• Hands-on experience with Odoo ERP or similar ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of project accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and taxation.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Power Query, financial modeling, dashboards).
• Strong understanding of IFRS/IAS and applicable tax regulations.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in project-based accounting for software development or IT services.
• Understanding of software implementation, subscription (SaaS), and managed services revenue models.
• Knowledge of project profitability analysis, resource utilization, and cost optimization.
• Experience with financial automation, ERP implementation, or process improvement initiatives.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-growing technology environment.
